About Montessori Moppet Centre

Developing Lifelong Learners since 1981
  • Cultivating each child's desire to learn.

Montessori Moppet Centre, Inc. is a non-denominational school affiliated with, and licensed by, American Montessori Society.
Our mission at Montessori Moppet Centre is to help each child develop physically, socially, emotionally and academically to their full potential while promoting respect, courtesy and human decency.
  • Experienced teachers that mentor, model, and guide.

All teachers, assistants and administrators hold college degrees and are licensed/certified at the level in which they teach.

Our directresses and assistants have over 35 years combined experience in a Montessori classroom. A child learns best in an enriched, supportive environment through exploration, discovery and creativity, with the guidance and encouragement of MMC’s trained and caring staff.

  • Children learn best in an enriched, supportive environment.

Goals of a MMC education also include learning responsibility, cooperation, and fostering strong, positive feelings about oneself and others.
Children are encouraged to pursue their interests, make responsible choices, and direct themselves to constructive activities. MMC addresses the total child by developing social skills, emotional growth, physical coordination, and cognitive preparation within a thoughtfully-designed environment.
  • The MMC Difference

    • Community

Students are part of a close, caring community. Teachers model respect, loving kindness, and a belief in peaceful conflict resolution.

    • Self-Assessment

As they mature, students learn to look critically at their work, and become adept at recognizing, correcting, and learning from their errors.

    • Independence

Classroom design, materials, and daily routines support the child’s emerging “self-regulation.”

    • Knowledge

Teachers provide environments where students have the freedom and the tools to pursue answers to their own questions.

    • Curiosity

Montessorians understand that internal satisfaction drives the child’s curiosity and interest and results in joyous learning that is sustainable over a lifetime.

    • Freedom

Given the freedom and support to question, to probe deeply, and to make connections, Montessori students become confident, enthusiastic, self-directed learners.
