Preschool and Kindergarten
Preschool and Kindergarten Programs are offered through 3-hour sessions, either 8:30-11:30 a.m., or 12:30-3:30 p.m., OR full-day kindergarten (8:30-3:30 daily).
- Daily outdoor play, weather permitting, or indoor activities in poor weather or when temperature is 20 degrees or below.
- Each class period includes two "circle times" or whole group gatherings in addition to the long uninterrupted work time. The first focuses on calendar, weather, Show 'n Tell and introductions of any new materials/activities. The second offers movement through songs, finger plays, simple games and story time.
- Monthly newsletters provide general information, calendar updates and classroom news.
- November and April parent/teacher conferences for all families. Phone or in-person conferences scheduled at request of parent or teacher, as needed.
- Several field trips offered each year, with adequate advance notice; on-site programs when available/appropriate.
- Arrival and Dismissal: Staff escorts between car and school
- Spanish is incorporated into all of our lesson plans.
The curriculum of our state-registered kindergarten program is implemented following the Montessori philosophy, and prepares the child for first grade entrance. **However, the age requirement of the individual elementary school will then determine subsequent grade placement.

Alternative Use of Program
If your child is able to attend class without a nap, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and if there are vacancies in the afternoon program of your choice, you may enroll your child in both a morning and an afternoon class, sending a sack lunch to be eaten with the Extended Day group between sessions. If interested in alternative schedules, please contact the office to check the availability of openings in your preferred classes.
Summer Program
Experience the Montessori approach to education in summer school! Have fun, explore the materials, learn new skills or advance old ones. Story time, gross and fine motor skills, art activities, etc. will be included daily. All MMC students - Ages 3 through 6+.
